Jean Monnet Chair CIBELIS

The research aimed at assessing the impact of the political and economic instability of the EU on the citizens. Most notably, the objective was to deepen and stimulate debate on how to effectively challenge the present state of affairs through institutional and legislative adjustments, as well as to spread awareness amongst citizens about the opportunities offered by the Union, also intercepting those parts of the population that for whatever reason are not familiar with the latter’s functioning.

The target groups of the research were, in particular:

  • graduate and undergraduate students
  • PhD candidates
  • researchers
  • academics
  • judges

During the lifetime of the project, a number of activities were carried out in order to reach the widest possible public: seminars, roundtable debates, conferences. The results of the research were published in law reviews and included in collective and monographic works.

The activities, results and research products published during the project's lifetime are summarised and presented in the attached leaflet (Cibelis leaflet). The project has recently been selected as a "success story" by a panel of experts from the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture of the European Commission (Citizens Beyond Lisbon – a success story).
